Pioneers of the Barron family

Nicolas Baron-Lupien, referring to his father’s first name, was baptized on June 17th, 1645 in Villenauxe-La-Grande, Aube, France. Son of Lupien Baron and Jeanne Tierson, he married Marie-Marthe Chauvin, daughter of Pierre and Marie-Marthe Hautreux, on November 16th, 1676 in Montreal. From this union were born nine children. He arrived in the country in 1673, and settled down in Montreal, as the domestic of Antoine de la Fresnay. Alternately butcher, shoemaker, furrier, farmer and carpenter, he made several transactions and associations in the region. In 1681, he owns a land of 9 acres. The date of his death, which occurred before May 11th, 1698, remains unknown.
