Pioneers of the Simons family

Jean Simon was born in St-Saturnin de St-Sornin-de-Magnac, Haute-Vienne, France. Year of his birth is unknown. Son of Jean Simon and Léonarde Dupin, he married Catherine Lorion, daughter of Mathurin and Françoise Morin, on June 29, 1655 in Montrel. From this union was born one child only. in 1655 he is a and settled in Montreal as a Mason. He was granted a land in the enclosed space of the city by Sieur de Maisonneuve. He drowned in the St-Lawrence River on November 24, 1656. He was buried the same day.

Hubert Simon-Lapointe was born circa 1633 in St-Rémy-de-Vanves, Hauts-de-Seine, France. Son of Guillaume Simon and Sébastienne Doublez-Doublet, he married Marie Vié, daughter of Robert Vié, Sieur de La Mothe, et de Sainte Paulin, on November 27, 1659 in Quebec. From this union were born 15 children. He came here in 1657 and settled in Quebec before moving in Côte-St-Michel, where he is knows as a ploughman. In 1703, now a widow, he signed a marriage contract with Catherine Belleau. Wedding never happened. In 1681, he owned 2 rifles,2 horses, 8 heads of cattle and 25 acres of land. He was buried in Quebec on November 18, 1704.
