Pioneers of the Sauvage family

Jacques Sauvage was born circa 1655 in Paris, France. Son of Jacques, a shoemaker, and Marie Fageau-Sageot, he married Marie-Catherine Jean, daughter of Vivien and Catherine Gateau, on January 10, 1690 in Champlain. From this union were born 2 children. In New France since 1676, he made the fur trade. In 1683, at the request of the king, he goes to Michilimackinac to fight the Iroquois. He went back in 1692 to bring various commodities. In 1696, he purchased land in Bécancour. He died outside of what is known now as the province of Quebec before March 31, 1703.
