Julien Rochefort was born on November 16, 1735 and was baptized the next day in Mesnil-Bœufs, Manche, France. Son of Guillaume Rochefort and Julienne Jourdan-Brione, he married Marguerite Côté, daughter of François and Marie-Hélène Thivierge, on February 12, 1770 in Montmagny. They had 13 children. This navigator arrived in Canada in 1762 and settled in Montmagny. Little is known about his life. He died on 29 Nov. 1816 and was buried two days later in Montmagny.
