Jean Guyon was baptized in 1592 in Saint-Aubin, Tourouvre, France. Son of Jacques Guyon and Marie Huet, he married Mathurin Robin, of unknown parentage, in June 1615 in France. From this union were born 10 children. He arrived in the country in 1634 as a bricklayer. Well known in France for the quality of his work, he acquired the fief of Dubuisson in 1637. In 1653, he donated his house in Mortagne, France, to the charity of the church. His wife died in Beauport in April 1662 and he did so, in May 1663 in Quebec.
