Henri Chaillé was born circa 1652 in Royan, Charente-Maritime, France. Son of Élie and Suzanne Morissonneau, he married Françoise Grimault, daughter of Jacques and Jacquette Ledoux, on November 5, 1680 in Charlesbourg. From this union were born 7 children. He was present in the country in 1671. He lived with the Jesuits at that time. In 1672, he settled on a land in Charlesbourg. In 1680, he was part of a group of four men that agrees to mow the grass and hay on the land of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. He died on January 7, 1731 in Charlesbourg and was bury there the next day.

Mathurin Chaillé was baptized on May 2, 1633 in Ste-Radégonde-la-Vineuse, Vendée, France. Son of Jean and Jeanne Bouillard-Bouillaune, he married Catherine Barré, daughter of Jacques and Françoise Gauvret-Gauvrite, on January 11, 1665 in Quebec. From this union were born 6 children. He came here in 1658 and settled on la Côte-de-Beaupré and then in Beauport. He was confirmed on February 2, 1660 in Château-Richer. In 1681 he owned 1 rifle, 4 heads of cattle and 10 acres of land. He died an was buried at l'Hôtel-Dieu de Québec on July 23, 1707, six days after his wife.
