Jacques Bilodeau was born about 1635 in Poitiers, Vienne, France. Son of Pierre Bilodeau and Jeanne Fleury, he married Genevieve Longchamp, daughter of Pierre and Marie DeSante Longchamp, on October 28th, 1654 in Quebec City. From this union were born seven children. Arrived to this country in 1652, he settled down in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans in 1656. At the 1681 census, he has 30 heads of cattle and 40 acres of land. He rents his land to his son in 1688 and settled down in Quebec. In 1708, he returned to the Orleans Island, on one of his son's land, and died there in 1712.

BILODEAU - Derived from Billaud, Biliwald Germanic name, from "bili" meaning sweet and kind, and "wald", meaning power, authority. Among the diminutive Billaud, Bilodeau is the only to be established in America.
