Jacques Bernier, aka Jean de Paris, was born around 1634 in Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, Paris, France. Son of Yves Bernier and Michelle Treuillet he married Antoinette Grenier on July 23rd 1656 in Quebec City. From this union were born 11 children. In 1657, he settled down on the Île d’Orleans. In 1667, as a farmer, he owned 8 heads of cattle and 25 acres of land. In 1673, he moved to the lordship of Vincelotte at Cap Saint-Ignace. In 1681, he owned 8 heads of cattle and 10 acres of land. In 1683, he bought a fief in St-Joseph de la Pointe-aux-Foins and became lord. He died in fief Vincelotte, where he was buried on July 21st 1713.
