Obituary of William Mack


ObituaryWILLIAM MACKVAN ETTEN - William Mack, 75, of VanEtten, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.He was born in the Bronx, NY, on January 30, 1929, the son of William and Erna (Haake) Mack. Mr. Mack graduated from New Dorp High School, SUNY Oswego and Columbia University. He served as Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War, and later moved to VanEtten in 1955 to teach Industrial Arts at Spencer-VanEtten Central School. Mr. Mack attended the Federated Church of Spencer. He led a senior citizens exercise class, went line dancing weekly, and square danced regularly. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with his friends and maintaining flower gardens for both the Village Square and his own.Mr. Mack was predeceased by his wife, Billie; his son, Kenneth; and his daughter, Elizabeth (Betty). He is survived by his son, William; his girlfriend, Georgia Walding; and a groundhog that has done considerable damage to his vegetable garden.A Funeral Service will be held at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home, 56 North Main St., Spencer, NY, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Wurth, pastor of the Federated Church of Spencer, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, VanEtten. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Mr. Mack to the Arctic League, Inc., PO Box 113, Elmira, NY 14902.
