Obituary of William-J. Phelan


PHELAN William J. "Bill", 74, of Manchester, NJ died on Thursday March 6, 2008 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Paterson, NJ, Mr, Phelan lived in Wayne NJ, for 25 years, then Milford CT for 4 years and then Lincoln Park, NJ for 3 years before moving to the Cedar Glen West section of Manchester Twp. in 1996. He was a US Navy Veteran having served from 1952-1960. He retired as an Engineer at MagnaTek Inc., Bridgeport, CT in 1996 after 15 years service. He was a communicant of St. John's RC Church, Lakehurst, NJ and member of the K of C Council #12940 at the church. He was a State Officer for AMVETS and a member of AMVETS Post #1 in Manchester. He was a life member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the DAV Chapter Lamberson-Sunchuk #20 and Korean War Veterans Association. He also was a member of the American Lesion Post #1000. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick in 1996 and John "Jack" in 2006. He is survived by a son, Christopher G. Phelan and his wife Sue of Wayne, NJ. A daughter Carolyn Tiger and her husband, Blair of Spring Valley, IL. And also survived by four grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Phelan and J.P. and Megan Tiger. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ 08759 on Monday, March 10th at 9:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's R.C. Church Lakehurst, NJ at 10:30 AM. After a private cremation, committal will be at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-5 PM.
