Obituary of William-J. Dempsey

William J. Dempsey, 86, of North Caldwell, N.J., died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. Visitation will be in the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J., on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Caldwell, on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Mr. Dempsey was born in Newark, N.J., raised in Montclair, N.J., and lived in West Caldwell, N.J., before moving to North Caldwell in 1971. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill retired from the Supermarkets General Corp. in Woodbridge, N.J. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen K. (Medlar) in 2004. Surviving are his devoted children, Valerie Vegliante, Donna Priolo, David, Coleen Clark and Celeste Bell; a dear brother, John, and loving sisters, Jean Powers, Eileen Taylor and Doris Dempsey; survived also by 12 grandchildren.
