Obituary of Vera-W. Anderson


Vera W. Anderson, born Aug. 27, 1930, of Cumming, a selfless and strong woman who devoted her life to the care of others, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Brighton, England, Vera Heathorn completed a nursing degree at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London and did post-grad work in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1959, she married Conrad E. Anderson and together they lovingly raised three children, Catherine, Julie and Scott. Vera was an active member of The Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, and also The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming. Her faith in God has always been unswerving. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 49 years, Conrad. She is survived by her children; brothers, Eric and Peter; and four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Mathew and Jazmin. Services will be held Thursday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations to Embracing Hospice House, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041, is greatly appreciated by the family. Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Duluth Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
