Obituary of V. -John Griffiths


GRIFFITHS _ V. John S., of Burnaby, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2002 at the age of 92. Born January 30, 1910 in Gateshead, England, John was the son of John and Mary Elizabeth Griffiths. He was predeceased last year by his wife, Elsie, to whom he was happily married for 66 years. He is survived by his son, David J. Griffiths; daughter-in-law, Elinor Griffiths; grandchildren, Owen Griffiths, Gwendolyn Silva and Josette Griffiths; great-granddaughter, Celeste Griffiths; his brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lily Griffiths; and his niece Edna May Myhre. Jack moved to Vancouver in 1910, was a well-known runner and tennis player and worked for the Canadian Post Office for a period of some forty years. For a large portion of this time, he was the Postmaster of the Postal Station for North Burnaby. For many years, Jack was the organist and choir-master at All Saints' Anglican Church. He loved to garden and had a small greenhouse for many years. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and for a short while, great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed, but lovingly remembered.
