Obituary of Thomas-J. Owen

Thomas J. Owen, 86, of Iselin, N.J., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at his home. A funeral service will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green St., Iselin. Visitation is on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Scotland, Mr. Owen resided in Iselin for 45 years. He was a merchant seaman in Scotland and was employed by United Airlines until he retired. Thomas was a member of The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, United Airlines Retiree Club and The Free and Accepted Masons. He was an avid reader and a world traveler. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Owen (d.1995); his brother, Sammy Owen, and his sister, Jessie Mclean. Surviving are his daughters, Donalda Funk of Iselin, and Betty Hulsizer and her husband, Howard, of Iselin; three grandchildren, Thomas Funk and his wife, Jessica; Courtney Flowers and her husband, Keith, and Bethany Hulsizer, and six great-grandchildren, Jesse Funk, Haylee Schafer, Aydan Flowers, Dakota Funk, Mackenzie Flowers and Maddox Funk.
