Obituary of Sylvia Allen

Smith and Sons, 731-427-5555 -->Sylvia Jane AllenSylvia "Jane" Allen of Jackson, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2011 after a courageous battle with ALS. Jane was born July 24, 1935 in Greenfield, TN to the late James Harold and Margaret Needham. She graduated from Steele Private School and attended West Tennessee Business College. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Raymond Allen in 2008. Jane was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker during her children's early years. Later she worked at the Camera Shop, The Kitchen Cabinet at Old Hickory Mall and many years at Lambuth Memorial Preschool where she was loved and known by many little ones as "Miss Jane." She was a longtime member of Johnson Memorial and Grace Presbyterian Church and worked with the children and youth programs and choirs. Jane loved Gospel music and vacationing on the Florida beaches with her family.Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Stockwell (Jeff) and Nancy Hamm of Jackson, Julie Thurmond (Tom) of Lexington, TN and Tracey Stewart (Doug) of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Adam Thurmond, Travis Thurmond, Jessica Blankenship (Zack), April Harlow (Reid), Lorie Parker, Tiffany Hamm, Ben Stewart and Eli Stewart; great grandchildren, Hunter Parker, Maleigha Wilson and Lleyton Blankenship. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. at the chapel on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at George A. Smith & Sons, North Chapel, 731-427-5555&#10;
