TANNER, Stanley Charles W.W. II Veteran (Retired) Acting Lt. Colonel Bright as a penny to the end, and with a V for Victory sign, in his 100th year, Stan slipped peacefully away on May 6, 2004 in Victoria, BC. Born on May 17, 1904 in London, England. Member Canada's Permanent Army 1935 to 1948, serving in Canada, Britain and Western Europe. Predeceased by his first wife Marguerite (1985), Sadly remembered by their children, Jewel (Herb), Robert (Eleanor), Audrey Anderson and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Nearly one hundred are left to honour his life and achievements from this family branch. Predeceased by his wife Clarice (February 1992) and his sisters, Kate, Maude and Doris. Stan will be lovingly missed by his children, Cheryl, Don (Julie) and Elaine, and his beloved sister Olive. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to Jennifer (Al), Kristen, Laura, Shawn, Sarah, Shannon, Schoney, Mathew, Jacob, Amber and Ashley. Stan was proud of his family and of his service to his country. Right to the end he sang songs, recited poetry, and still had his wit and humour to make the staff laugh at The Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria, B.C. The Ottawa Citizen
