Obituary of Shirley Allen

ALLEN, Shirley Bernice (nee White) August 3, 1925 - May 1, 2010. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our most incredible mother and grandmother Shirley Allen on May 1, 2010, at the age of 84, from the arms of her loving children Larry Allen (Wendy) and Muriel Gerard (Dan) to the arms of her wonderful husband Ernie (2004). Daughter of the late Harold and Mildred White and daughter-in-law of the late Eva and Wilber Allen. She was a devoted and much loved grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Stephanie Santos (Nelson), Sarah Allen (Kathryn), Jodi Bailllargeon (Gary) and Craig Gerard (Nicole), proud great-grandmother to Emelia Santos, Lauren, Ty and Kierstyn Baillargeon and special mother-in-law to Shelley Allen. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-laws, Marjorie Allen and Joyce Allen. Also dear sister-in-law of the late Verda Campbell (Colin), late Charles Allen (Florence), late Alfreda Emerson (Earl/Herb Bulbeck), late Dora Brett (Jack), late Viola Jones (John), late Ella Purcell (Charles), late Arnold Allen (Marjorie), late Ray Allen (Joyce) and late Harold Allen. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was member of the Local Elford Women's Institute for many years acting as treasurer, and a member of the District Women's Institute for 40+ years, acting as secretary for two and enjoyed time spent with the Essex Women's Take-a- Break organization. Shirley is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North, Essex on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Kingsville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Cottam United Church would be appreciated.
