Obituary of Robert S. Henning

Robert S. Henning, 81, of Hopedale died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was the husband of L. Pauline (Poudrier) Henning. Mr. Henning, along with his wife and son, owned and operated the former Millville Liquors in Millville from 1971-1985. In his earlier years, he worked as an Engineer for Raytheon Corp. in Waltham. During his retirement, he was a driver for Alternatives Unlimited and other organizations. He was born Jan. 22, 1931 in Springfield, son of the late Carl and Marion (Roberts) Henning. He was a graduate of Technical High School in Springfield and attended Northeastern University in Boston. Mr. Henning served as a Sargeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. & Mrs. Henning observed their 58th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17, 2011. He was a 5 year member and Former Vice Commander of the Lt. Robert C. Frascotti Post # 1544 VFW Post of Milford. In addition to his wife Pauline, he is survived by a son Robert S. Henning, Jr. of Holland; a daughter Diane M. Trench of Hopedale; a brother Richard Henning of Marco Island, FL; a sister Joanne Julian of Chicopee and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Jack Henning. Funeral services, with Full Military Honors, will be held Sat., April 21, 2012 at 9 AM from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale St., Hopedale 01747. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Hopedale. Visiting hours will be held Fri., April 20, 2012 from 4-6 PM in the funeral home.
