Robert L. Freeman, 87, died peacefully November 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 25, 1926 in Framingham, MA a son of Leon and Ruth (Greenough) Freeman. He attended Framingham High School, at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United Marine Corps during WWII, following his first enlistment with Marines, he enlisted with the US Navy and proudly served his country until 1949. Upon leaving the service, he returned to Framingham and served as an apprentice carpenter, while also serving 16 years on the Framingham Fire Department. In 1966, he moved his family to Alton, Maine where he worked as a carpenter for Local 421. He was a member of the Maine Beekeepers Association, and was an avid woodworker and enjoyed restoring old furniture. He loved to read books about Nature and Survival. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret; two children John Freeman and his companion Michele Ellis of Alton, Janice Gomm and her husband Stanley of Old Town, four grandchildren Ashley Freeman of OK, Lukas Freeman and his companion Hilary London of Alton, Andrew Gomm and his wife Jodi of Bradley, Timothy Gomm of Bangor; three great grandchildren Makenzie, Aiden, and Parker Gomm; a sister Claire Errico of Sherbon, MA; sisters-in-law Christina Pelletier of Framingham and Mary DeShaw and her husband George of Dennis, MA. He was predeceased by a brother Richard V. Freeman. Per Mr. Freemans request, private services will be conducted at Alton Cemetery.
