Obituary of Robert H. Morse


MARLBOROUGH Robert H. Morse, 89, of Marlborough, died Wednesday, Jan.16, 2008, at UMass Memorial Marlborough Hospital. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Ernst Curtis Morse and Beatrice (Campbell) Morse and the husband of Evelyn (Weagle) Morse, who died in 2005. Mr. Morse was a graduate of Marlborough High School and Worcester Trade School. He had been employed as a wood pattern maker for the Draper Corporation, Hopedale, as well as the Wyman Gordon Company, Worcester. In 1943, Mr. Morse enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served at Argentia Naval Base in Newfoundland. He was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Marlborough, an avid cyclist and was known for his hand-crafted custom sail boats. He is survived by his sons, Robert C. Morse of Marlborough, Ronald Morse and his wife, Louise, of Marlborough; Alden Morse and his wife, Wendi, of Acton and William Morse and his wife, Valerie, of Dracut; his daughter, Patricia Morse, of Ashland; and daughters-in-law, Sheila Morse of Swanzey, N.H. and Kathleen Morse of Grafton; his sister, Audrey Laverdure, of Laconia, N.H.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Bruce Morse. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan.19, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St, .Marlborough. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Marlborough. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Jan.18, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
