Obituary of Robert C. Dawson

Robert C. Dawson 1939 - 2012 HOLYOKE - Robert C. Dawson, age 73, of Holyoke, died on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the Geriatric Authority of Holyoke. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late John and Catherine (Fieseler) Dawson and was a graduate of Saint John's University. Bob moved here in 1961 and was the Assistant Treasurer at National Blank Book Company (Avery Dennison), retiring in 1994. He later worked as director of Finance at the Geriatric Authority in Holyoke from 1995 to 2005. He was a coach and former treasurer of the Holyoke Youth Baseball League, a member of the Holyoke Taxpayers Assn., and a volunteer for Catholic Charities. Bob played on the Oiler's softball team, golfed at Wyckoff Country Club and in the National Blank Book Golf League. He was involved in Junior Achievement and the Holyoke VNA, and served as treasurer for the political campaigns of Marty Dunn and Ray Feyre. Bob was a longtime member of the Saint Patrick Committee of Holyoke, where he served as treasurer for many years, and was the recipient of the Thomas Rohan Award in 1994. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda C. (Carriveau) Dawson, a daughter Deborah A. Dawson of Holyoke, a son John A. Dawson and his wife Julie of Citrus Springs FL, and a brother Joseph Dawson and his wife Carol of Chicopee. He was predeceased by a brother John Dawson. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Jerome Cemetery.
