Obituary of Robert Bates

WEYMOUTH Robert L. Bates, 51 years of age, of Danbury, CT died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2008. He was born in Weymouth and was a graduate of Weymouth High School. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University in Boston. He was a Strategic Planner for the Cadbury Schweppes Company and for Honeywell Corp. He had resided in Danbury, CT for the past two years and was formerly of Stamford, CT where he had resided for many years. While a resident of Weymouth he was a member of the Old South Union Congregational Church and active in the Youth Programs of the Church. He was a history buff and an avid reader. He was a collector of toys and movie memorabilia. He is survived by his wife Rosiene B. (Oliveira) Bates of Danbury, CT. He is survived by his mother Marilyn D. (Dodge) Bates of South Weymouth, and by three sisters: M. Jay Bates of Abington, J. Robin Stephens of Lynnwood, Washington and Tracy E. Bates of Rockland. He is also survived by his nephew Andrew Stephens of Lynnwood, WA. A Funeral Service will be held at the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian Street SOUTH WEYMOUTH on Tuesday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Terry Martinson pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will be Private. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N.
