Obituary of Rita Leblanc


LEOMINSTER -- Rita Marie (Maillet) LeBlanc, 85, of Notre Dame Street in Leominster, died on Wednesday, Aug. 15, in her home. She was born on Jan. 8, 1922, in St. Ann, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Sifroi and Delina (Gallant) Maillet. Mrs. LeBlanc moved to the United States in 1954 from Canada. She was a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Leominster, and enjoyed gardening, flowers, going to the ocean and spending time with her family. She also was an avid crafter, and she liked to sew, knit, crochet and scrapbook. She is survived by a son, Paul J. LeBlanc of Port Charlotte, Fla.; three daughters, Louise Parent of Leominster, Therese Roy of Westport, and Anne Daniels of Windham, N.H.; two brothers, Aquila Maillet and Arice Maillet, both of St. Ann, New Brunswick, Canada; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis J. LeBlanc, in 1994; a son, Robert LeBlanc, who died in 2006; and two sisters, Anna Allain, who died in 2006, and Ella Jaillet. LEBLANC -- A funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours will be Friday evening, Aug. 17, from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made in Rita’s memory to Diversified Hospice Program, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
