->FAIRFIELD -- Rebecca Hope Paquette, 55, of 25 Robinson St., Fairfield, left this Earth after a lengthy and exhausting battle with a chronic lung disease on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006.Rebecca entered this world on Feb. 21, 1951, the 11th child born to Wallace and Hope (Holt) Paquette. She graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1969, and from the University of Maine at Orono in 1973. She taught school for a brief time and was employed in office management for many years.Becky was a quiet and private person, although to those of us who were blessed to really get to know her, there was a wonderfully funny and witty side to her. She will be very much missed by those who truly loved her.She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Paquette; and two infant sisters.She is survived by two brothers, Wallace Paquette and his wife, Lorena, of Augusta, and Donald Paquette and his wife, Carol, of Taunton, Mass.; five sisters, Constance Laflamme and her husband, Daniel, Prudence Moody and her husband, Michael, all of Fairfield, Paula Simpson and her husband, Robert, of Waterville, Deborah Veilleux of Providence, R.I., and Susan Ross and her husband, John, of Cumberland; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a special aunt and godmother, Dorothy Audet of Winslow.Becky's favorite excerpt was from "the Velveteen Rabbit:""You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are REAL, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints, and very shabby. But those things don't matter at all. Because once you are REAL, you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand" -- "The Velveteen Rabbit"Rest Well BeckyVisiting Hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, in Fairfield.
