Obituary of Raymond Baker


BAKER Raymond Baker, age 87 of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Bridgeport Hospital. Raymond was born in Bridgeport and was the son to the late Walter and Elizabeth Herman Baker. He attended Bassick High School for one year before leaving to serve with the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. Prior to his retirement Raymond had worked for J. Horvath Company, Crown Tool Company, Baker's Dry Cleaning, and Baker's Holding Company where he was chairman of the board. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and was a Junior Vice Commander. Raymond is survived by his companion of 44 years Nellie K. Varley of Bridgeport; many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 9:15 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center and 10 AM at St. Thomas Church in Fairfield. His interment will follow with full Military Honors at Mt. Grove of Easton. Friends may greet his family on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.
