Obituary of Ralph Galloway


GALLOWAY _ Ralph Francis. Slipped away peacefully after a lengthy illness on June 15th, 2002. Born in Montreal, Quebec on November 14th, 1936, he is the son of the late Ralph and Helen Galloway. Dearly beloved husband of 45 years to Marilyn. Loving father of Ralph Jr. (Linda), Shane (Jennifer), Scott (Dana), Donald, Karen (Al) and Janice (Petra). 'Papa' will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Travis, Jessica, Brandon, Devalin, Madison and Riley. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Doreen, his mother-in-law Dorothy McDowell, brothers-in-law Keith and Alan, his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ralph spent many years working with young people in sports. Well known as a successful coach in boxing, Ralph coached for the Winter Games of '80, '81 and '82. In 1982, he was chosen to coach for the Canadian Boxing Team competing in the World Cup Boxing Championship in Munich, Germany. Then in 1983, Ralph was chosen as the B.C. coach at the Canadian Winter Games. Being an all round sports enthusiast, he also coached football and baseball teams in Kamloops, B.C. A Celebration of Ralph's life will be held in the Chapel of the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond, B.C. on Thursday June 20th, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception. Flowers gratefully declined, rather, a donation in Ralph's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, BC-Yukon Division, 360-1385 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3V9.
