Brank, age 95 of 724 Reems Creek Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2014.Mr. Brank was born August 30, 1918 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was the manager of the Dixie Store for five years before being drafted by the US Army, where he served as a combat engineer during World War II. After the war he and his wife, Ruth owned and operated Brank Upholstery and Paul was a life-long hay and beef farmer. He had been Presbyterian all of his life. Paul was the son of the late Willie Lee and Effie Lenora McDaris Brank and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cook Brank who died in 2005 and brothers, Brad, Hugh and Maurice Brank.Surviving are his son, Mark Brank and wife Gloria of Weaverville, along with several nieces and nephews.His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev.'s David Plemmons and Steve Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Brank Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.At other times the family will be at the residence.The family would like to thank the Reems Creek Fire Department for their help, the Charles George VA Medical Center and Dr. Cassidy and his nurses in Primary 3.For those who desire, condolences may be offered to the family under Mr. Brank's obituary at www.WestFamilyFuneralServices.com.
