Normand J. B. Cantin died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 14, 2012 after becoming ill at his home. A resident of Framingham since 1960, he was 89 and the loving husband of Prudence (LoBianco) Cantin. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Laurent and Eva (Gagnon) Cantin. He served with the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 and was discharged after having seen service in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland Ardennes of Central Europe. Mr. Cantin received a B.S. degree in 1948 from Bryant College, Providence, RI and attended evening classes at Columbia University in 1948 and 1949. In his professional life Mr. Cantin worked in public and private accounting and was associated with Evans Chemetics, a small to medium-sized chemical company based in New York City, as a cost accountant. From 1950 to 1952 he was employed as an accountant for Arthur Young & Company Certified Public Accountants. Later, in 1952, Mr. Cantin formed a partnership with Myer McWilliams to practice public accounting in the Boston area under the firm name of McWilliams & Cantin. From 1955 until his retirement in 1988 Mr. Cantin was Vice President-Finance with American Mail Advertising in Waltham. In his personal life he was the father of three sons and was active with them in The Boy Scouts of America where all three became Eagle Scouts and he was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 8 in Framingham. Mr. Cantin was a member of Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants and the National Association of Accountants. In addition to his wife, Prudence, he leaves his sons and their spouses; Norman and Mary of Brewster, Michael and Anne of Ashland and Robert and Mary of Medway. He also leaves his grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Emily, Christopher, David, Colleen and Jessica and his great granddaughter, Emma Rose. He was also the brother of Reginald, Raymond, Marcil, Lionel, Louis, Amie and Andrade Cantin, Annette DeNardo, Florence Fournier and Anita Limoncelli. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 9:00 am at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, Sudbury followed by a funeral mass at St. Anselm Church, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury at 10:00 o'clock. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Framingham. Donations in memory of Normand J. B.
