Obituary of Mrs. -Mary-Lee Kearney


Mrs. Mary Lee Chester Kearney, age 92, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008, after a brief illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker and a member of the Statesboro Church of God. She was the daughter of the late Hardy and Ruth Kennedy Chester. Mrs. Kearney was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Kearney; two brothers, Grady and Buddy Chester; and one sister, Annie Wilson. Survivors include her sister, Betty Mills of Rincon; her brother and his wife, A.J. and Edith Chester of Savannah; her niece and her husband, Dorothy and Bobby Johnson of Guyton; her niece and her husband, Mary Joan and Frank Jones of Statesboro; two nephews, Darvin and David Wilson of Augusta; and many other nieces and nephews and a special friend, Alma Goodwyn. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Kearney officiating. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Kearney's nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
