Mildred A. Bubier Baker, 86, Sarasota, and South Portland, Maine, died April 9, 2003. She was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Lewiston, Maine, and wintered in Sarasota since 1981. She retired as a secretary for the superintendent of schools in South Portland. She was a member and volunteer at First Congregational United Church of Christ in South Portland and in Sarasota, and also sang in the choir at the South Portland church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert; daughters Diane Lewis of South Portland and Barbara House of Boothbay, Maine; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with a reception to follow, in the Fellowship Hall of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sarasota. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund for First Congregational United Church of Christ, 301 Cottage Road, South Portland, ME 04106; or to Scholarship Fund for First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1031 S. Euclid Ave., Sarasota, FL 34237.
