Obituary of Michael Kary

KARY-Michael (Mike) passed away peacefully on February 20, 2005 with his family at his side. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Anne (Lockert), sister Hilda (Joe) Schmidt; children Eleanor (Richard) Selinger, Bob (Barbara) Kary, Mary Anne (Ray) Globa, Joe (Lyssa) Kary, Edith (Brian) Holzapfel, Louise (Brian) Cheshire, Donna (Henry) Kary, Gerald (Lorelie) Kary, Jacob (Arlene) Kary, Katherine (Brian) Fisher and David (Keita) Kary; his grandchildren Dwayne (Shelley) Selinger, Darla (Miguel) Silva, Deanne and Danielle Selinger, Stefani Kary, Colin and Karen Globa, Matthew, Evan, Michelle and Kimberly Kary, Shelley and Chris Holzapfel, Alexander Cheshire, Ryan, Maria and Lily Kary, Thomas, Aaron, and Robin Kary, Michael Fisher and Gabriel Kary; and great grandchildren Keydon and Averi Selinger, and Cassandra Silva. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Katherine Kary, and brothers and sisters Elizabeth (Steve) Schaaf, Segesmund (Lena) Kary, Emelia (Ralph) Brilz, Peter (Anne) Kary, Anna Marie (John) Brilz, Edith (Frank) Brilz and Joe (Alvina) Kary; and three grandchildren, Jason Globa, Darcy Selinger and Patricia Holzapfel. Michael was born on the farm at Allan, Saskatchewan on June 29, 1922. After school, he worked for his brother Segesmund and then as a grain buyer at Allan. He met his partner Anne on a trip to visit his sister Elizabeth and married her on July 13, 1948. He purchased a farm north of Vibank, near Anne's family, making a full life of raising children, growing grain and milking cows. His family was always his pride and his faith his strength. In his retirement he gave to his community, serving as an alderman and deputy mayor of Vibank, a trustee for Golden Prairie Home, a trustee for the Vibank School Board, chairman and director of the Vibank Credit Union, chairman of Vibank's Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Committee, and a long standing member of St. Paul's Parish Council. Prayers will be held at 8:00 PM on February 23 at Holy Child Parish Church, 2636 7th Ave. East, Regina, Sask. Funeral Services, followed immediately by interment, will be held on February 24 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Parish Church at Vibank, Sask. The Celebrant is the Reverend Louis Abello, with con-celebrants Reverend John Weckend and Reverend Eugene Schaffer.
