COFFEE--Mary Morse, 88, died December 25, 2007. For over 65 years, the devoted wife of J. Collins Coffee, mother of John, Robert and Richard, grandmother of Megan, Kerry, Clark and John Barton. A civic and community leader in the Manhasset area, she was the first woman trustee of the Village of Plandome, a director of the first economic development and antipoverty corporation established in the Town of North Hempstead, and a longtime leader and Director Emeritus of the Plandome Womans Club. Born in Troy, New York, in 1919, she graduated from Albany High School and St. Rose College and proudly traced her ancestry back to the Morse family that settled in New England in the mid-17th century. Relied upon by many, she gave much more than she received.
