MARY HELEN ABRAMSformerly of Waverly and OwegoMary Helen Abrams, 83, formerly of Johnson Street, Waverly, passed away Friday, March 16, 2001, after several years of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Abrams, Jr., in 1994; and two sons, Lawrence and Ronald. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Birdie Abrams, Owego; five grandchildren, Cathryn (Paul) Friedman, Medfield, Mass., Paul Abrams, Bend, Oreg., James (Stephanie) Abrams, Franklin, Mass., Jason Housel, York, Pa., Randy Liwicki, Orchard Park, N.Y.; her brother, Charles (Beverly) Barson, Jenson Beach, Fla.; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a 55 year member of the Presbyterian Church in Waverly. She enjoyed life and among her interests was her church, meals-on-wheels, woodworking, cooking, sewing and gardening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 12 noon, at the Estey & Munroe Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, with the Rev. Kevin Stainton officiating. Burial will follow in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and Tuesday from 11 until the hour of the funeral. Mary Helen's family appreciates the loving care from the staff of Ideal Nursing home. Friends wishing may make contributions to the Ideal Senior Living Center Foundation, 600 High Avenue, Endicott, N.Y. 13760, in memory of Mary Helen Abrams.
