Obituary of Margaret Weber


Margaret Weber went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2008, in Ozark Baptist Home, where she had lived the past several years. She was born to Pearl and O.S. Boyce, in Waterloo, Iowa, on July 16, 1912, and was married to Dr. Paul Weber Jr. on September 10, 1934. He preceded her in death. They served together as leaders of several Baptist churches in Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky, particularly at Hamlin Memorial in Springfield, From 1958 to 1968. Mrs. Weber was a trained teacher, having attended Southwest Baptist College and graduated from Kansas City Teachers College. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Pettit of Ozark, Martha Hall of Moberly, Judy Weber of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Grace Clifton of Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Her life was spent in service to others. Many summers were spent working with young people in camps. An excellent Bible teacher, she started countless new Bible study groups for young married couples. As a widow, she realized the need and organized a special widows group in her church. Margaret had been an active member of South Gate Baptist Church. In addition to her church activities, she was a talented musician who enjoyed teaching piano to young pupils. As an avid bird watcher, she was responsible for the organization of the Springfield Audubon Society. She was a competitive tennis player, and into her seventies, she could still be seen riding her bicycle for exercise. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m, led by Rev. Nolan Carrier, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
