Margaret A. Bowen, 73, Venice, died Sept. 19, 2003, at home. She was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Logansport, Ind., and came to Venice in 1990 from there. She was a nurse and assistant director of nursing at Logansport State Hospital, and former operating room supervisor and purchasing agent at St. Joseph Hospital in Logansport. She was an operating room supervisor in the Air Force during the Korean War and was discharged as a first lieutenant. She graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette, Ind., and received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. She was a former director of the Indiana State Nurses Association and past president of District 11. She was past president of the Florence Nightingale Club in Logansport and a member of American Legion Post 159 in Venice. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Survivors include her companion of 50 years, Dorothy M. Klink; sisters Mary M. Lammie of Tucson, Ariz., and Cecilia Skillen of Lyons, Ill. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ewing Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in Logansport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 4955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
