MICHAEL PATRICK HARKINS - MILTON - Michael Patrick Harkins, 58, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2012, following a brief illness. Mike was born in Burlington, on April 11, 1954, the son of Edward and Shirley (Halo) Harkins. Mike served his country as a boatsman in the Navy. He lived most of his life in Milton and also attended school there. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman and a "Jack of all Trades." He loved the outdoors. His latest adventure was panning for gold. He was a hard worker and worked many jobs as a roofer and cutting trees. He was also a great gardener. Mike was a kind soul and would help anyone. He is survived by his sisters, Diane Grant of Florida, Gail Siles of Louisiana, and Bonnie Gillis of Florida; brother, William and sister-in-law, Deery Hamelin, of Milton. Among many friends, he leaves his special friends, Tammy Conger and Lynne Lemire; special niece, Cristal; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Sue Suerrera. A special thanks is given to the staff at the St. Albans Health and Rehab Center for the care and compassion that they showed Mike during his stay. A funeral service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at 5 p.m. in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. Online condolences may be made to www.minorfh.com.
