LEOMINSTER -- Louis J. Gagne, 90, of 34 Fairmount St., died Friday, Feb. 8, in the Highlands after an illness. He was born on Dec. 23, 1917, in Cherry Valley, Leicester, son of the late Henry and Sadie (Castell) Gagne. Mr. Gagne was a chef and owner for the former Smith Rest Home, the former Beverly Rest Home (now Pleasant Acres in Worcester), and owned and operated the former Fairmount Rest Home in Leominster from 1974 until 1979 with his family. He was also a supervisor at Carlton Woolen Mills in Rochdale and a Pinkerton Security Guard. He worked for Wright-Line in Worcester and also for Harrington-Richardson in Worcester. His wife, Mary (Waldron) Gagne, died in 2005. He leaves his daughter, Phyllis Gagne, of Leominster; a niece, Celine Ayotte, of Woonsocket, R.I.; a nephew, Walter Gagne Jr., of Worcester; great-nieces, Michelle Archer, of Woonsocket, RI, and Theresa Place, of Maine; and a great-nephew, Dennis Ayotte, of Bellingham. He is predeceased by his half-brothers, Joseph Alfred Gagne, Arthur Gagne and Walter Gagne Sr., and his sister, Florence Desert. GAGNE -- The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster. A calling hour will precede the funeral Tuesday, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
