Obituary of Lois G. Grimaldi


Lois G. Grimaldi 1931 - 2011 SPRINGFIELD - Lois Gerturde (Wilcox) Grimaldi, 80, of Springfield, died on Sunday September 18, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in South Strafford, VT on August 7, 1931 a daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Porter) Wilcox and attended local schools. Lois had worked at the former Westinghouse Corporation in Springfield and was later employed for 12 years as an inspector with the Hamilton Standard Company in Windsor Locks, CT, retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church, where she was married in 1995, and a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church, both in Springfield. Lois loved traveling and visited many destinations including Europe, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska and China. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Lois will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her including her husband of 16 years, Raymond Bourcier; her daughter, Rita Bessey of Chicopee; her grandchildren, Charlene, Raymond, Doreen, Melissa and James; and her five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Lois also leaves her brothers, Dana Wilcox of Hanover, NH, Walter Wilcox of Etna, NH and Ernest Wilcox of White River Junction, VT; her sisters, Myrtle Jenkins of Springfield, Dolly Griswold of Plainfield, NH, Winnie Barksdale of O'Fallon, IL, and Theresa Campbell of Plainfield, NH; and her many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Earl Wilcox. Lois' family will receive friends on Thursday September 22, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sampson's Funeral Home, 710 Liberty Street in Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 23, 2011 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Sampson's Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, with Rites of Committal and Interment to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery (St. Phillip's Section), 1601 State Street, all in Springfield.
