Obituary of Lawrence-Pellicer Redmond

The Rev. Lawrence "Larry" Pellicer Redmond, 69, of St. Augustine, died Feb. 17, 2006 at Flagler Hospital. He was born in St. Augustine. He attended local Catholic school and went into the seminary out of high school. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1964 by Archbishop Joseph Hurley at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.He was assigned to several parishes in the Orlando Diocese as assistant pastor.His first parish as pastor was St. Peter and Paul in Goldenrod, Fla. While there he also directed San Pedro Camp for young people during the summers.This was a true love of his.His second parish was Blessed Trinity in Ocala, where he also built three churches in the area. His third parish was Prince of Peace in Ormond Beach, where he built a large beautiful church.In 1995 he took a medical retirement, at that time he was pastor of Prince of Peace and Vicar General of the Diocese of Orlando under Bishop Dorsey.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, The Rev. Victor Galeone, Bishop of St. Augustine and the Rev. William Ennis, Orlando Diocese, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.Survivors are: three sisters: Barbara Channell, Palm Harbor; Joanne McElroy, St Augustine, Marian (Larry) Cox, Melrose; two brothers: John Redmond, St. Augustine, Bill (Ann) Redmond, Melbourne; and sister-in-Law: Audrey Redmond.
