Obituary of Lawrence-Leo Pineau

PINEAU, Lawrence Leo 2009-01-15 Lawrence Leo Pineau, aged 93, passed away peacefully on January 13th at TBRH surrounded by his loving family. An amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather, he was much loved by everyone who knew him. Born in Kenogami, Quebec, Larry moved with his family first to Sturgeon Falls and then to Thunder Bay where he spent all of his adult life. He married Margaret Beda in 1940 and they raised their four children here. He served his country in the navy in WWII, returning to Thunder Bay where he worked for the Brewers Retail for almost 40 years. Larry was a life member of the P.A. Curling Club, Corpus Christi Church and previously a member of Lion‘s Club. A consummate gentleman, he was a regular contributor to a number of local and national charities. Larry (Fox) was well known for his athletic ability, pitching and coaching baseball in his younger years and still curling and golfing into his 90s. He was also appreciated for his incredible sense of humour, fine wit, and his love of people. He enjoyed watching sports, doing crosswords, reading, taking long walks and visiting his family whom he loved so dearly. He was predeceased by his wife Marg and parents Joseph and Annie (Bulger), sister Vivian and brothers Stanley and Joseph. He is survived by his children, Larry (Judy), Michael (Sammy), Kit (Dieter), and Margo (Bob), sisters Lillian and Jean and grandchildren Barbara, Greg (Nicole), Annie, Emma, his great grandchildren RJ (Kerri), Tanner, Jessica and great-great grandson Parker. Prayers will be held Friday, January 16 at 7:00 pm and a celebration of Larry‘s life will be on Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 pm, both at Corpus Christi Church. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
