OAKLAND --ÊLarry Armand Grenier of Oakland passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Inland Hospital in Waterville.He was born at home in Winslow on March 12, 1930, the son of Major and Josephine (Madore) Grenier.Larry grew up in the Waterville area and after graduating from high school he went to worked in area restaurants, including The Templeton in Waterville. At one time he owned and operated the Buy Rite Meat Market. In 1970, he moved to California and continued to work in the culinary field by opening a Weight Watchers Restaurant.In 1971, he married the former Geraldine Heskett and they shared 34 years together.In 1978, they moved to Las Vegas and Larry continued his career in the culinary arts. He worked at the Nevada Test Site and was a chef at the Flamingo Hilton and other hotels.Larry retired in 1992 and moved his family back to Maine.He was predeceased by his parents and a son from his first marriage, Larry Grenier Jr.Larry is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his daughter, Tiana Pellegrino of Johnston, R.I.; his son, Todd Grenier of Providence, R.I.; a brother, Perley Grenier of Waterville; a sister, Katie Leary of Fairfield; and his grandchildren, Wesley Scott and Naomi Pellegrino, both of Johnston, R.I.He is also survived by his children from his first marriage, his sons, James Grenier and Paul Grenier, both of Waterville; his daughters, Elizabeth Mead of Boston, Kathleen Barren of Waterville and Pamela Lepero of New York; and his grandchildren, Ian, Tori, Levi and James.He will be sadly missed by his special nephews, Richard, Raymond, Roger, Ronnie, Roland, Rusty, and Robert Leary, Earl Buker, and Snookie (Ernest) Grenier; and a special niece, Rosemarie Poulin. He also will be missed for all his special culinary arts, jokes, his red truck, his love for Las Vegas vacations, family, especially Wesley and his "Little Angel" Naomi, and his special dog Goldie.Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
