Kenneth Wayne Dawson, 62, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. He was born on June 2, 1943, in Mt. Vernon, to Charles H. and Ruby Elizabeth (Tubbs) Dawson. Kenneth was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the Missouri Division of Health, was a deputy sheriff for Greene County, and retired, after 22 years of service, from the U.S. Federal Medical Center where he worked as a correctional officer. Kenneth was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shriner's organization and Blue Lodge Masons of Springfield and the York Rite of Joplin. On August 15, 1970, he married Pamela A. Pittman in Mt. Vernon. She survives him of the home. Additional survivors include: daughter, Marlana Dawson, Strafford son, Jason Dawson, Springfield one brother, Raymond Dawson, Dayton, Ohio two sisters, Linda Day, Mt. Vernon, Virginia Evans, Aurora an aunt and uncle several cousins and nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Services, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005, in the Summit Baptist Church, northeast of Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Kenny Epperson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Summit Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Summit Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
