Obituary of Kenneth-Robert Mathews

BLUFFTON, S.C./ GENEVA - Kenneth Robert Mathews, 92, of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Geneva, passed away on Wednesday, (March 26, 2014) at Hilton Head Medical Center after a brief illness.Private Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Geneva and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneva.Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.Ken was born on December 23, 1921, in Geneva to William Henry and Zella Wooden Mathews. He graduated from Geneva High School and attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He served his country in World War II and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He spent his entire career, employed for 43 years, at the American Can Co. before retiring in 1983.He is survived by his children, Mary (Marshall Schmidt) Moffett of Fairport, N.Y., Jane (Dan) Zwerner of Bluffton, S.C., and Bill Mathews of Orlando, Fla.; his five grandchildren, Jennifer Moffett, David Moffett, Timothy (Marissa) Zwerner, Jeffrey Zwerner and Kimberly Zwerner; his sister, Dorothy Blakley; and his brother William H. Mathews; several nieces and nephews.
