Obituary of Kathleen Rankin

(nee Rankin). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, on December 20 at the age of eighty-three. Mom left us peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital after a valiant struggle. Born in Westville, NS, daughter of Stanley Rankin and Rose Muir. Mom came to Montreal as a young teenager, where she met and fell in love with her beloved husband, the late Hermini Labre. Mom will be lovingly missed by her eleven daughters, Beverly (Louie), Carol (Jean-Guy), Carmen, Shirley (Joseph), Kathleen (Leo), Jacqueline (Robert), Suzanne, Sharon (Bob), Debra (Raymond), Joanne (Patrick), and Darlene (Michael), her twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, her surviving brother Earl, her surviving sisters Margaret and Bessie and by all those who had the wonderful opportunity to know and love her. Special thanks to Rosie and all the nurses on the 8th floor and the ICU for their wonderful TLC. A grateful celebration of her eighty-three years of love of life, love, strength and sheer joy of living, will be held at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home, 2630 Notre Dame Street West, Montreal, on Monday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. A Celebration Service of Mom's life will be held from the chapel of the Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 24 at 10 a.m. with cremation to follow.
