Obituary of Katherine-M. Whalen

Katherine M. Whalen, 86, Lake Suzy, died Feb. 13, 2004, at Bon Secours–St. Joseph Hospital, Port Charlotte. She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Beverly, Mass., and came to Florida from there in 1974. She retired as office manager for Charlotte County School Board Adult Education department, and was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church, Port Charlotte, and Kingsway Country Club of Lake Suzy. Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Donald E.; a son, H. William Glass of Pittsfield, Mass.; daughters Sandra Kirwin of Orlando, Jackie Nyman of Port Charlotte, Cathy Brickelmaier of Altamonte Springs, and Terry Gaudette of Troy, Va.; stepdaughters Sandra Salvo of Kingsville, Md., and Rosemary Funk of Petersburg, Va.; a brother, Thomas McDermott of Lynn, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at San Antonio Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be later in San Antonio Memorial Garden. Roberson Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel, is in charge.
