Obituary of Katherine Kurtis

KATHERINE KURTIS (NEE ANDULE) CROWN POINT, IN Katherine (nee Andule) Kurtis, age 85 of Crown Point, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010. She was born on September 2, 1924 in Gary, IN. She was a member of SS Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its choir, and Philoptochos Ladies Society. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Peter G. Kurtis. She is survived by four children: Sunday (Ron) Johnson, Christine (Nick) Chimitris both of Crown Point, Dean Kurtis of Wheeling, IL and Christ (Pam) Kurtis of Culver, IN; six loving grandchildren: Peter Johnson, Kiki (Josh) Malarsky, Katie and Stephen Chimitris, and Takis and Eleni Kurtis; one great-grandchild, Nathaniel Malarsky; special beloved cousins: Rev. Peter and Christine Georgacakes and family of Munster; sister, Helen Andros and family of Fishers, IN; and numerous close relatives. Katherine was the best and most loving mother that anyone could ask for and will be extremely missed by all. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Trisagion service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at SS Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville, IN with Father Theodore Poteres officiating.
