KATHERIN E BLANCHE SESSIONS MCMULLE N SHANNON Katherine Blanche Sessions McMullen Shannon, 88, of Vero Beach, Fl formerly of Tampa, Clearwater and Pensacola, FL, died March 23, 2007 at Indian River Estates East, Vero Beach. Blanche Shannon was the daughter of the Magruder pioneer Florida family of Rockledge, born in Tampa. She graduated from Plant High School and the University of Tampa before marrying Henry L. McMullen, Jr., of Clearwater, of the pioneer Pinellas County family. They were married 50 years when Henry went to be with God. Blanche also earned a masters degree from the University of Florida. She held leadership positions in public education in Hillsborough County, the Florida Department of Education and the Department of Education for North Carolina before retirement. She was a lifelong member of the DAR, International Reading Association, Kappa Delta Gamma, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Lamda Theta, Phi Delta Kappa, Early Childhood Association, the Appalachian branch of the McMillan Clan in America, the American Clan Gregor Society, UT and UF Alumni Associations, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola. She was preceded in death by her beloved Thomas J. Shannon who was her husband for 14 years; they resided at Azalea Trace in Pensacola, FL. She is survived by her son, William Howard McMullen (Linda) of Land O Lakes, FL; 2 step-sons, Neal Shannon (Janan) of Half Moon Bay, CA; Curtis Hal Shannon of Atlanta, GA; and Bonnie Shannon of Roswell, GA; a sister, Frances S. Hoffman of Seminole, FL; granddaughter, Mari Kathleen McMullen Martin (Chris) of Alabaster, AL; grandsons, William Henry McMullen of Land O Lakes, FL; Andrew Shannon and Jeffery Shannon of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Steve Hoffman (Linda) of Tarpon Springs, FL and John Hoffman (Carolyn) of Lake Chuluota, FL. Donations may be made to your local Hospice. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 11:00AM - 12:00PM, followed by a graveside service at 12:30PM at McMullen Cemetery on N.E.
