July 2, 2005 Joshua Edward Fredette, 21, of 100 Bertram Pl., Syracuse, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005. Joshua is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Willie Kye, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Edward H. and Helen C Fredette; and his paternal uncle, Edward A. Fredette. Joshua was a life-resident of Syracuse and received his education at Faith Heritage School and the Syracuse City Schools. He attended Elmwood and Roberts and graduated from Corcoran High School in 2003. In school, Josh was a peer leader in the Peer Leadership program, and was a trained mediator in the school district conflict resolution program. He was active in athletics all his life and loved basketball and football. His enthusiasm for sports was demonstrated by how he played; he always gave 100%. For over 10 years, Josh was a member of the Greg Tearney Martial Arts School. At Tearneys, Josh earned a Black Belt degree and was an instructor for younger students. He was an excellent martial artist who earned, over the years, numerous medals and trophies for sparring and kata in the tournaments he participated in. In 1998 Josh was New York State black belt sparring champion in his division. After graduation Josh attended Monroe Community College, in Rochester, but returned home to work and ponder what his best course of action should be. He was a very introspective person, who took seriously, his role in his future. Josh had a special relationship with his youngest sister, Jessica. As in so many brother sister relationships, it often appeared as if they would never agree on anything; but in fact they loved each other more than words could ever express. To know Josh, was to love him. He was a young man who was well-liked, admired and respected by all he came in contact with. Anyone who knew him, could only say good things about Josh. His boyhood friends have remained his friends and he will be with them forever. Josh is survived by his parents, John and Rita Fredette; four brothers, Fred Cosby, Jr., Nathaniel R. Cosby, John Fredette, Jr., Arthur Blount; two sisters, Jennifer Fredette and Jessica Fredette; his maternal grandparents, John and Lee Thomas; he also leaves his girlfriend, Fleynesha Freeman. In addition, he will be dearly missed by all his close friends and relatives who have loved Josh for his entire life. Calling hours Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at FARONE & SON.
