Obituary of Josephine-L. Aiken


SPRINGFIELD - Josephine L. Aiken, 75, died Nov. 7, 2008, at Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor.She was the daughter of John and Ruth (McNeil) Leary.She attended schools in Brattleboro.She married Robert Aiken, who predeceased her in 1989.Mrs. Aiken worked as a cook at the Bellows Falls Diner for many years, and later as a machinist at Whitney Blake in Walpole, N.H., and Rockingham for many years. Survivors include a son, Richard Aiken of Westminster; two daughters, Cheryl Pelton of Weathersfield, and Darlene Goodrich of Springfield; two brothers, John Leary of Brattleboro, and William Leary of Tennessee; four sisters, Barbara Blow of Brattleboro, Lucy Taylor of Bellows Falls, Polly McAllister of Putney and Phyllis Fowler of Keene, N.H.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Brown, in 1995.A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Pelton.Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.View the guest book at rutlandherald.com/obits.
