WHALEN, Joseph1942 2011Joseph Whalen courageously lost his battle with cancer on August 12, 2011 with his family at his side. Joe was born January 14, 1942 in Sydney Mines, NS. Joe moved to Richmond, BC in 1963 where he met his wife Heather. They moved to Delta in 1965 where they raised their 3 children, then moved to Surrey. After Joe retired from Brenco Industries, he and Heather retired to Lumby, BC. Joe was a hard-working, fun-loving man. He always had time to help or teach those around him. Joe pursued many interests such as hunting, fishing, RV-ing, dancing, joking around and building things with his hands. In his final days he continued to play jokes on his wife and reminded the nurses he was allergic to barley. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Heather; daughter, Karen (Roy) of Victoria; sons, David (Deborah) of Delta and Kevin (Alisa) of White Rock; grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Destinee, Michael, Brittiny, Kendra and Shay; great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Caelan; sisters, Ella, Marge, Reta, Isobel, Val, Shirley, Jo Ann, Linda and brother, Robert, as well as extensive family and friends. He's now moved on to Plan B. See you Tuesday! A Celebration of Life in Joe's honour will be held at the Vernon Curling Club (3400- 39th Avenue, Vernon, BC) on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation to the BC Cancer Society (399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.myalternatives.ca Arrangements entrusted to: Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services, Vernon 250-558-0866, Armstrong 250-546-7237
